Who Is Andromeda Reynolds?

The first book of the Shadowcat Nation series – Andromeda’s Fall – has one of my favorite heroines to write – Andromeda “Andie” Reynolds.

Andie was key to this book from the very beginning. My initial idea stemmed from a single scene. I pictured a mountain lion shifter sitting high on a rock overlooking a forest. She’s there on patrol, but she has something to prove. Above her is a male mountain lion, secretly observing her behavior.

I wrote that scene first and then had to figure out how to get there. That’s when I started discovering the fun that is Andie Reynolds. I realized that in order to have to be proving herself, she’d have to be somewhere where those around her don’t trust her.  This also meant that she was trying to get in somewhere. I went with she was trying to escape from danger.

And that’s when Andromeda’s personality came about. She is a fighter–feisty, brave and willing to sacrifice for those she loves.

Discovering her personality led me to the beginning scene of the book. She’s escaping from danger within her own dare of cougar shifters and is breaking into the Keller Dare. Goal: asylum and mate the Alpha of the dare for more permanent protection. She has to sneak in to the Keller Dare in order to hide the fact that she’s there from anyone trying to follow her. And she’s very good at stealth.

You’ll have to read to find out what happens next. Will Andie get to the Alpha? Or will someone else get in her way?

Andromeda’s Fall – December 10th, 2014!
